My First AR Colt HBAR

This rifle is my first AR 15 I ever got. My friend made this Colt HBAR for me prior to the 1984 Assault Weapons Ban that our not so bright government thought they would pass and restrict our rights to bear arms, which then increased crime and they realized is was a bad idea and did not renew it. So, I figured that before they restricted my rights, I would purchase my first AR 15 before and I did. This rifle cost me $1400 at the time, which was fueled by the ban. The Colt HBAR has an 18′ heavy barrel and is filled with Match parts. It also has a cult upper and trigger work done to it to have a nice crisp low poundage trigger (around 3lbs). It doesn’t have any special Nickle Boron BCG, they didn’t have them at the time.

The rifle also has a custom hand guard that is made by my friend. Which helps offset the weight from the heavy barrel. Plus it gives it a cool look. This rifle is over 30 years old if my memory serves me right on when it was made, though I could be off, it’s been that long. I do know that when i used to go to the yearly competition we setup in the desert with my friends, I always won the rifle competition, mostly because I am a very good shot with rifles, but also because of the accuracy of this Colt HBAR. I am very proud to be the owner of this rifle and I plan on owning it for many more years. I might look to upgrading some of the parts, maybe the stock and purchasing new Optics to put on the rifle. Turning this into a true sniper AR 15 since it is pretty much there already, just needs to be modernized. But for now, I am just going to leave it as it is and enjoy the fond memorie I have while shooting this rifle.
